Due to its all year round tropical climate, Mauritius never really experiences a winter in real terms. Temperatures range from twenty-two degrees Celsius in the winter months to thirty-four degrees Celsius in the summer months. The southern and northern regions are warmer and relatively drier than the western and eastern sides of the island. The sea is always warm with average temperatures of twenty-four to twenty-six degrees Celsius. The central part of the island is slightly cooler that the coast. Whatever time of year you decide to visit this spectacular island, you are guaranteed to feel as if you have entered a tropical paradise. The sun shines most of the time and a light cardigan is all you’ll ever need to keep off the slight chill that may occur during the evening in the winter months. Occasional tropical cyclones can occur during the summer months, generally between January and March, and tend to disrupt the weather for up to three days at a time bringing lots of rain but clearing quickly.
